It was last year at Eastertime and I was visiting the little guy. Whenever I visit I usually bring a lot of presents with me – one for each day. They aren’t necessarily big, just a fun surprise. I get to do this because I don’t visit that often. And because I’m Grandma… and because I want to.
So I had a little surprise for him each day of my visit. But I also brought some surprises for Mommy and Daddy. For Mommy, I brought some Easter pillows and a bunny throw. And while the little guy was very excited about his own presents, it was so sweet to see how excited he was that I’d brought presents for Mommy. He absolutely loved that she was getting presents, too.
That joy showed up again in June. Mommy’s birthday is in June and she happened to mention how much she would like some really cool spatulas from Trader Joe’s. Of course, I hopped right online and ordered a couple. Once again, I heard that the little guy was SO happy that Grandma Deb had sent a package to Mommy. He was as happy as when I send a surprise to him. “I’m just so excited!” he said.
Don’t you wish we were all that way? Don’t you wish you could spend your days around adults who are “just so excited” for every little good thing that happens to you?
Teachers come to us in many different forms. This one is kinda small, kinda cute and really sweet with a powerful message: “To give and to receive are one in truth” – “one law which holds for every kind of learning.” Lesson 108
Maybe receiving all good things is as easy as being “just SO excited!” for each other.
